Postmodernism

Dis the book that i'm currently reading.

Being the shallow me... was decieved by the illustrations in each page. Thought it would be easy reading, but it's actually heavy-duty material. Have to re-read the paras a few times before fully grasping the idea behind it. Eh... it's largely attributed to my bloken engrish. Ideas raised make good discussion topics for like-minded frens tho. :)

Paying Too Much for Art?

Was tempted to watch SRT-RSC's collaboration of The Seagull. NOT because of Sir Ian McKellen. No doubt he's an excellent actor - he managed to look sinisterly evil as Magneto wearing the coconut-husk helmet... no mean feat, BUT is it too much to pay $400 just to watch a play?

APS (not UPS or APES) aka ah pui soh's cousin raised an eyebrow when i told her i'm interested in The Seagull. Simple reason being that i don't see much interest in Russian playwrights in S'pore... and hey, it's an interesting story.

Wouldn't other theatre companies be able to pull off equally thought provoking rendition of King Lear like RSC? Aren't other theatre companies equally good, even tho 'their style is more avant garde, cutting edge, experimental... watever! Speaking of which... i so mish LunaID!!! To pay $400 for a play... nah... i'll pass.

Legally Ah Pui Soh

Life as an official legal ah pui soh ain't easy so far. Been nursing my cough & flu since last week, and still am hacking like an old hen suffering from asthma.

Bones were aching & i could hardly turn my head as i'm still getting used to the new bed. Not to forget my much cramped-up, reduced space on the bed since i've gotta share it wif ah pui now. & not to forget... being whacked by ah pui while sleeping! itz machiam kung fu in bed wif mi as the punching bag. try being smacked on the head, elbowed & kicked while u were snoozing happily. &$*(*%$%*$#.... it's no wonder that i'm getting dumber by the day.

More Than Meets the Eye

accompanied ah pui to watch transformers. definately a guy show... tho' some of my gfs like watching machines turning into robots which r 10xs bigger than them (how the hell can they haf so much metal to transform?!?! duh!!). kinda miss the cheesy theme song. shd haf played in the movie. bwahhaha!!!

some real-life transformers.... enjoy!!!

Play!

Surprise... surprise~ ah pui actually is interested in an arts fest event. went to watch Play! A Video Game Symph0ny on Sat. @ the esplanade concert hall. expectedly, the place was swarmed with teenagers, looking funny when they are trying painfully hard to look formal.

somebody oughtta give the kids a concert etiquette 101 before they attend anything close to anything arty. there's a overly excited kid who tried to clap before the beginning of his favourite game. thankfully he's sitting far from me.

hmm.. prob coz im a gaming idiot. most of the pieces din really reasonate wif mi 'cept for super mario bros. yesh.. im dat ancient. things soon start to sound boring when most of the pieces sound pretty much the same, wif the same zen beginning, majestic music. the dash of oboe n clarinet solos were good tho. :)

a good starting ground for teenagers to cultivate an interest in music. h/ever for serious aficiandos, just go for the fun of it.
